the Capital Region. Zachary has historically been viewed as a rural community with a high quality of life. Today, Zachary serves as an
employment, retail and healthcare destination for northern capital region. Stable job opportunities have consistently been available for

The growth and diversity of Zachary’s business community has mirrored the growth of the city’s population. A large number of financial institutions now call Zachary home. A variety of professional services, such as bankers, legal firms and accounting firms, are steadily moving in. Most recently, an array of geotechnical experts, engineers and related support services has located professional offices in Zachary as the Tuscaloosa Oil Shale exploration has significantly increased in intensity.

Just beyond the city limits of Zachary a clean and diversified industrial corridor is thriving. Novolyte Technologies is steadily expanding production of lithium-ion electrolytes to help power fuel-efficient electric vehicles. Georgia- Pacific is currently undergoing a $350 million modernization and expansion of its production facility which when complete, will be one of the most technologically advanced paper mills in the nation. Also under construction is a $15 million hot-dipped galvanizing operation by
Great Southern Galvanizing, which was recently recruited to the area. Other major industrial operations in the immediate area are Entergy’s River Bend Nuclear Plant, KPAC’s box-paper production plant, and ExxonMobil chemical and refinery operations.
